The house dates from 1733, and has a wealth of period details including exposed beams, flagstone floors and big open fireplaces. It is situated in a commanding position at the top of the hill, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, yet is only a short drive from the pretty market towns of Banbury, Stow-on-the-Wold, Chipping Norton, Chipping Campden, Stratford-upon-Avon and Shipston-on-Stour. The guest bedroom on the first floor has a unique little annexe which extends it into a family suite when required - for full details see our Accommodation page. There is a good variety of country inns and small restaurants within a few miles, but if you prefer to spend the evening at Mine Hill House a 3-course dinner may be booked (48 hours notice required). The guest bedroom on the first floor may be arranged as either a double or twin room. There are beautiful views over the garden and open countryside from the bedroom windows. Beyond the en suite bathroom is an additional small twin room, with sloping ceilings and a very special access - over a beam and through the cupboard doors! This room is very popular with children as it is like a secret den. Grown-ups might enjoy the adventure too if they do not mind negotiating the access. The bathroom is shared between the two rooms. On arrival we offer our guests a cup of tea in our cosy sitting room, where a log fire is lit during the cooler months. Breakfast is served in the dining room, where works of art by Hester s mother Jo Trotter, a renowned artist and sculptor, are on display. A full English breakfast is cooked on the Aga, or a lighter Continental alternative is available if preferred.
