KLM is the flag carrier airline of Netherlands which is also the oldest airline in the world to be operating under its original name. With a fleet size of 116, the airline operates to 130 destinations in 70 countries. The first flight operated from London to Amsterdam flown by KLM's first pilot, Jerry Shaw. KLM celebrated their centennial in 2019, as it is the first airline to achieve this feat. KLM's headquartered in Amstelveen which is a site near Schipol Airport. The airline peaked in social media during the Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajökull, customers used social networks to contact the airline, which used them to provide information about the situation.

Alliance
SkyTeam founded in June 2000 has 19 members who collectively carry over 630 million passengers each year reaching over 1150 destinations. SkyTeam alliance and its members have 750 lounges worldwide. Passengers can access privileges based on the status of the member airline's frequent flyer program. SkyTeam has two frequent flyer program tiers which are Elite and Elite Plus are linked with the status of the airline membership programs.

Class of Travel
KLM provides four classes configuration;
World Business Class - KLM's World Business Class has recliner seats which are equipped with a personal entertainment system with on-demand audio and video with a privacy canopy, massage function and power ports for laptops and mobile phones. The famous Dutch designer Hella Jongerius designed the new cabins which are diamond type seats which are manufactured by B/E Aerospace. The cradle-to-cradle carpet which is featured in the cabins are made from old uniforms which are woven in an intricate pattern, the pillows and curtains also have the same design. The new design in KLM's Boeing 787, the seats is based on Zodiac Cirrus platform used by Air France.
Europe Business Class - Europe Business Class is KLM's and KLM Cityhopper's short-haul business-class. The Business class seats have extra room and recline which allows for a comfortable journey. The seats have an in-built power but the cabin does not have personal entertainment.
Economy Comfort - KLM's economy class is designed in a separate cabin with reclining seats before the economy class which allows the passengers to exit the aeroplane before the economy class passengers. This service can be reserved by Economy Class passengers free with guests with a full-fare ticket.
Economy Class - KLM's economy class seats are equipped with adjustable winged headrests and with a PTV, in-seat power and a personal handset satellite telephone which can be used with a credit card.

Baggage allowance
Economy class passengers are allowed 2 items with a total of 12 kgs for carry-on and 1 bag of 23 kgs for checked-in luggage.
Business Class passengers are allowed 2 items with a total of 18 kgs for carry-on and 2 bags with a total of 32 kgs for checked-in luggage.

Frequent Flyer Programme
Flying Blue allows members to earn miles with booking tickets and members can also avail Air France KLM World Elite Mastercard. Members can spend miles for buying full fare tickets, online shopping. Members also can donate/buy/transfer miles and can claim missing miles.

In-flight Services
All of KLM dishes are developed in partnership with a leading Dutch chef. KLM serves all World Business Class passengers three-course meal and Europe Business and Economy Class passengers are served depending on the duration of the flight. All tableware served are designed by Marcel Wanders, a Dutch Designer who has partnered with KLM. Passengers travelling in flight for more than two hours are served "stroopwafel" before the descent. Special meals can be pre-booked up to 24 or 36 hours before departure. KLM offers authentic Asian meals in all classes on flights to India, China, South Korea, and Japan. KLM launched the world's first in-flight draft beer with a partnership with Heineken. KLM provides all World Business Class passengers with a Delft blue, miniature, traditional, Dutch house which are miniatures are reproductions of real Dutch houses and are filled with Dutch genever.

Domestic Flights - Passengers can check-in online 24 hrs prior to the scheduled departure time.
International Flights - Passengers can check-in online 24 hrs prior to the scheduled departure time.

Onboard Support
KLM provides assistance for passengers with special needs. Wheelchairs, airport assistance during check in are provided by on ground staff. Passengers can choose a service that best suits their need. Expectant mothers and parents of unaccompanied children can read rules and regulations here.

Refund & Cancellation
Passengers can cancel their booking either through KLM sales’ offices or website. All cancellations are subject to a cancellation fee.
